The highlight of my trip to the Sedona, Arizona area was viewing the Palatki Sinagua cliff dwellings and pictographs. Entering the cliff dwellings, dated between 650 A.D. and 1300 A.D., was almost a mystical experience. I felt the most connected when I realized I could still see the finger impressions in the mud of the wall (see pic 3, this page) .

The pictographs were exquisite; layered over each age by culture upon culture. They are dated from 3000-6000 years ago, to as recently as the Apaches done in more recent times.
